Fresh from concluding the sale of its Oi Movel unit to a consortium comprising Claro, TIM Brasil and Telefonica Brasil (Vivo) earlier this month, Oi has struck an agreement to transfer its pay-TV subscription base to Sky Servicos de Banda Larga, a unit of Sky Brazil. The agreement will see the telco’s entire satellite direct-to-home (DTH) base transferred to Sky, while the IPTV component of the deal will take the form of a revenue sharing agreement, with Sky using Oi’s IPTV infrastructure going forward.
The conclusion of the transaction is subject to review by the company’s Judicial Reorganisation court, and also requires the approval of the Administrative Council for Economic Defence (Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Economica, CADE).
