Telcel targets 100 5G cities by end-2022

America Movil (AM)-backed Telcel plans to cover a total of 100 cities with 5G technology by the end of 2022, the group’s CEO Daniel Hajj has disclosed. The 5G network went live in February this year and was billed as ‘the largest 5G network in Latin America’. 5G connectivity was enabled in 18 major cities from launch, covering approximately 48 million people.

As previously reported by CommsUpdate, the Non-Standalone (NSA) 5G network went live in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Merida, San Luis Potosi, Tijuana, Queretaro, Culiacan, Mazatlan, Durango, Leon, Toluca, Hermosillo, Juarez, Chihuahua, Torreon, Saltillo and Puebla.
