A1 Telekom Austria Group posts 20% rise in Q1 net profit

27 Apr 2022

A1 Telekom Austria Group has reported total revenues of EUR1.16 billion (USD1.24 billion) for the first quarter of 2022, an increase of 2.7% from EUR1.13 billion in the year-ago period, driven by growth in service revenue in all markets. Mobile service revenues climbed by 5.5%, due to the solid performance of the mobile core business, mobile Wi-Fi routers, and further recovery of roaming revenue, while fixed service revenues were up 0.9% year-on-year to EUR440.7 million, as solid growth of 9.5% in international markets more than compensated for a decline in Austria. Group EBITDA rose by 8.4% from EUR398.3 million in Q1 2021 to EUR431.6 million twelve months later, and A1 Telekom Austria Group reported a 20.0% jump in net profit from EUR108.9 million to EUR130.7 million over the same period, as the solid operational performance more than outweighed higher income tax expenses.

At 31 March 2022 A1 Telekom Austria Group reported a total of 22.92 million mobile subscriptions, an increase of 4.5% year-on-year, driven by growth in the number of M2M subscriptions as well as a higher number of mobile Wi-Fi routers in all markets. Total wireline RGUs were stable year-on-year at 6.07 million, as the increase in broadband and TV subscriptions offset the fixed voice decline.
