WOM discloses Colombian achievements as Bannister steps down

22 Apr 2022

Chris Bannister, CEO of WOM Colombia, has exited the company after overseeing the deployment of 3,832 cell sites ‘in record time’. He will be replaced by Argentinean Ramiro Lafarga. Signing off, Bannister noted that WOM has signed up nearly two million mobile subscriptions since launching in April 2021 and has invested USD706 million in its Colombian networks to date. The executive commented: ‘As I’ve learned over the last 25 years of being a CEO, it’s better to leave six months early than stay six months longer, so it’s time to say goodbye.’

Intriguingly, El Tiempo quotes Bannister as saying: ‘I will continue to work hand in hand with the Novator family for more projects,’ suggesting further mobile rollouts might be on the horizon after his work for WOM’s Icelandic-owned, London-based parent company Novator Partners in Chile and Colombia.
