7 Apr 2022

T-Mobile US CEO Mike Sievert has revealed that more than 40% of the operator’s post-paid mobile subscriptions now have a 5G device, and 5G traffic already accounts for roughly half of all traffic carried on its network. In the space of twelve months, the cellco’s 5G traffic has increased 6x while average download speeds have doubled. The figures were disclosed in a blog post written to celebrate the second anniversary of the merger between T-Mobile and Sprint.

TeleGeography notes that the company reported a total of 87.663 million post-paid mobile subscriptions as of 31 December 2021, suggesting there are around 35 million 5G devices connected to its network.
