Filipino telecoms giant PLDT has selected EdgePoint Infrastructure and edotco Group as the preferred bidders for its local towers, people familiar with the matter have informed Bloomberg. As per the report, Singapore-based EdgePoint – which is backed by Digital Bridge and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) – is in exclusive talks with PLDT for a portfolio of around 3,000 towers in the greater Manila area. Malaysian tower firm edotco has entered into separate discussion for another 3,000 tower outside of Manila, the sources added. The two deals could be worth as much as USD1.5 billion and agreements could be reached in the coming days.
