Digicel books increase in underlying revenue

1 Apr 2022

Irish-owned, Jamaica-based telecoms group Digicel Group booked underlying revenue of USD593 million for the final three months of 2021, the Irish Times writes, citing a notice released to the group’s bondholders (Digicel does not publish its financial results publicly). Reported revenue was flat at USD552 million, however, due to the negative impact of foreign exchange movements. Similarly, EBITDA fell by 5% on a reported basis to USD239 million, but underlying EBITDA improved by 7% to USD268 million. Breaking down its underlying revenue growth by segment, earnings from mobile services grew by 5% during the quarter, whilst business solutions saw an uptick of 12% and its fixed broadband and pay-TV offerings recorded a 9% uptick. The company counted a total of 13.2 million subscribers across its 32 markets as at 31 December 2021.
