Globo sells 7% stake in Sky Brazil to Werthein affiliate

Brazilian media organisation Globo has offloaded its remaining 7% stake in Brazilian pay-TV provider/ISP Sky Brasil Servicos (Sky Brazil) to GLA Brasil, an affiliate of Buenos Aires-based Grupo Werthein. The deal gives Werthein 100% control of the Brazilian business. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed.

TeleGeography notes that Sky Brazil is part of Vrio Corp, which has been owned by Buenos Aires-based Grupo Werthein since November 2021. Vrio was previously owned by AT&T Inc.

According to the National Telecommunications Agency (Agencia Nacional de Telecomunicacoes, Anatel), Sky served a total of 155,209 TD-LTE fixed broadband subscriptions as of 31 December 2021, down from a peak of 365,695 in September 2018.
