Telekom Deutschland and Vodafone Germany have worked together to eliminate so-called ‘grey spots’ in more than 2,000 rural areas and along the nation’s roads. Grey spots are locations where 4G services are only available from a single provider. With network sharing, customers of the other provider can now also use the network in these selected areas. Under the cooperation agreement between the pair, Vodafone and Telekom each open an equal number of mobile base stations for the customers of their cooperation partner. By the summer, the two operators are aiming to eliminate a further 1,000 grey spots.
