The Chilean government has confirmed that it has completed the deployment of its Southern Fibre Optic (Fibra Optica Austral, FOA) rollout, delivering connectivity to more than 536,000 users in 15 districts of the southern zone of Chile. Gloria Hutt, Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, commented: ‘Today we meet one of the objectives we set when we took office. With the completion of the works on the four sections of the FOA project, we are providing more than half a million users in 15 districts of the Los Lagos, Aysen and Magallanes regions with better high speed connectivity. Without a doubt, we are delivering a more connected Chile than four years ago, with high-speed networks that cross the entire country.’
