3 Mar 2022

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) and Ericsson yesterday (2 March) announced the signing of a contract to further expand the former’s 5G footprint in Indonesia. Under the plan, Ericsson will extend IOH’s coverage to Jabotabek, including in the cities of Bogor, Tangerang and Bekasi, augmenting its existing presence in a number of other cities such as Balikpapan, Surakarta (aka Solo), Jakarta, Surabaya and Makassar. The cellco switched on its 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) network in June 2021.

Commenting on the development, Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, said: ‘This 5G network expansion is a realisation of our commitment to support the government’s mission to fulfil 5G coverage throughout Indonesia. We believe the 5G network will create a digital ecosystem that supports the needs of the digital economy. Through this strategic partnership, we are extending our commitment to the government to accelerate digital transformation in Indonesia.’
