Hungarian group Magyar Telekom’s consolidated revenue grew by 2.5% year-on-year in Q4 2021 to HUF193.59 billion, thanks to continued growth in mobile data and fixed broadband revenues resulting in an annual 4.0% increase in consolidated group turnover to HUF700.12 billion in FY21. Gross profit was 3.8% lower y-o-y in Q4 2021 – at HUF97.15 billion – as revenue expansion was counterbalanced by one-off bad debt impairment, while the annual gross figure climbed 3.4% to HUF388.42 billion. EBITDA rose 3.7% y-o-y in 4Q21 to HUF54.93 billion and by 6.6% in FY21 to HUF240.77 billion, reflecting strong market momentum coupled with efficient cost control. CAPEX after leases excluding spectrum licences increased 25.4% y-o-y in 4Q21 mostly driven by network investments and amounted to HUF109.28 billion in the full year, 3.0% higher than 2020.
Telekom’s total active mobile SIM cards (including M2M/IoT) in Hungary increased by 3.8% y-o-y to 5.63 million at end-December 2021, while average monthly mobile data consumption amongst Hungarian customers continued to rise sharply, recording a y-o-y increase of over 30%. The operator’s Hungarian fixed broadband retail subscriptions climbed 7.2% y-o-y to nearly 1.42 million.
