Iran embarks on FTTH rollout project

Iran’s Ministry of ICT has launched a new project to deploy fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure past more than 20 million homes and businesses by August 2025. The first phase of the scheme will see 500,000 properties passed by networks in the cities of Mashhad and Qom. A report from PressTV cities ICT Minister Issa Zarepour as saying: ‘Optic fibre should reach 20 million homes and business places to ensure there is a stable, high speed and safe network in place.’ Iran had 540,000 premises reached by FTTH networks at the end of March 2021, according to Ministry figures.
