ALFA: no bidders for Axtel assets

17 Feb 2022

Mexican industrial conglomerate ALFA has still not received an ‘appropriate offer’ for its telecoms subsidiary Axtel despite multiple interested parties, chief financial officer Eduardo Escalante admitted during a call with investors to discuss the company’s 4Q21 results.

ALFA’s quarterly report clarifies: ‘The Axtel team continued conversations with potential buyers during 4Q21. Axtel plans on maintaining an open dialogue with interested parties while moving ahead with its internal strategic agenda to capitalise on attractive market opportunities.’

TeleGeography notes that ALFA cancelled its ongoing attempts to sell Axtel back in December 2020, despite attracting a ‘double-digit’ number of bidders. It now appears that a sale is back on the agenda, however.
