Link Net (First Media) adopts Cisco’s routed optical networking

10 Feb 2022

Indonesian fibre provider Link Net (First Media) has implemented Cisco System’s routed optical networking technology in its network architecture, in the process expanding capacity to 400G per wavelength. The ISP said the move will support increased demand for bandwidth both from subscribers using its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network and from corporate customers of its metropolitan optical networks services. Link Net is reportedly employing the vendor’s Cisco NCS 2015 with 400G transponders in ‘a flex spectrum-based … contention-less DWDM network utilising optical network restoration through spectrum switching’. Alongside this, the ISP is using ASR 9000 series routers in the core and aggregation networks with Cisco’s Terabit high-density LightSpeed Plus interface to support 400GE.
