Telekom Deutschland (TD), the domestic fixed and mobile unit of Deutsche Telekom, has announced plans to connect an additional 7,000 companies in a further 78 municipalities to its fibre-optic network. Under this phase of expansion, which will begin this year, businesses located in 87 industrial parks will be able to access maximum download speeds of 1Gbps. Municipalities set to benefit from the expansion include Ahrensburg, Altdorf, Berlin, Hamburg, Heideck, Jena, Cologne, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Mainz, Mannheim, Marburg, Munich, Siegsdorf, Weilheim, Wesseling and Zirndorf.
TD increased the total length of its fibre network by around 70,000km to more than 650,000km last year. By 2023 around 3,000 business parks are expected to be connected to its fibre-optic infrastructure.
