DITO looking to double subscription base in 2022 via USD1bn investment

24 Jan 2022

DITO CME Holdings’ telecoms arm DITO Telecommunity Corp aims to double its mobile subscription base in 2022 aided by planned capital expenditure of USD1 billion to expand coverage across the country. The Philippines’ third telco has already attracted 5.3 million subscriptions since its launch in March 2021, passing the one million milestone in June, two million in August and eventually breaking the five million barrier in late December. ‘The speed by which we can grab market share and grow is limited by the speed by which we can build our network,’ Joseph John Ong, chief finance officer of DITO, told Reuters. The company plans to spend around USD1 billion per annum to build thousands of cell sites across the archipelago.
