Telecom operators in Montenegro plan to invest approximately EUR34 million (USD38.6 million) in networks and services this year, representatives for the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (EKIP) have informed news agency Mina. This compares with an estimated EUR40 million last year and EUR61 million in 2020, which took total investment over the last ten years to more than EUR600 million. According to EKIP, the long-term trend of significant financing is a result of the country’s ‘stable and predictable legal and regulatory framework, which has created equal conditions for all market participants’.

The regulator also confirmed it is finalising preparations for the auction of 5G spectrum in the 700MHz, 1500MHz, 2300MHz, 3.6GHz and 26GHz bands in the second half of 2022, with appropriate approvals to be granted by the end of the year.
