Indian telecoms group Bharti Airtel and satellite connectivity provider Hughes Communications India Private Limited (HCIPL, Hughes India) have announced the formation of a new joint venture to provide satellite broadband services in India. In a joint statement, the operators noted that the entity is operational as HCIPL and combines the VSAT businesses of both companies to offer flexible and scalable networking solutions. The tie-up was initially announced back in May 2019 and has now received all the necessary approvals, including those from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
