Digi closes EUR625m sale of Hungarian operations to 4iG

Bucharest-based Digi Communications has confirmed that it closed the previously agreed sale of its Hungarian businesses to Budapest-based ICT group 4iG on 3 January 2022. The sale and purchase agreement – valued at EUR625 million (USD708 million) – was signed on 29 November 2021. The transaction was subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions, including the Hungarian competition authority’s clearance.

Serghei Bulgac, CEO of Digi Communications, commented: ‘Following 23 years of continuous development, Digi is handing over to the 4iG operator a competitive business with exceptional results, whose impact on the telecommunications market will be remembered for many years to come.’

As previously reported by CommsUpdate, the transaction includes 100% of DIGI (Hungary) and its subsidiaries Invitel, Digi Infrastruktura and i-TV.
