Mobile operator Orange Senegal – a subsidiary of Sonatel – has reported its second official 5G test, carried out in the commune of Saly in Thies region, in which it ‘validated the compatibility of several categories of equipment and confirmed its ability to offer ultra-high speed services to its consumers.’ As reported by Agence Ecofin, data speeds up to 2Gbps were achieved in the test in partnership with Nokia.
Orange Senegal, which currently covers 89% of the population with its 4G mobile network, announced its first 5G test, in partnership with Huawei, in November 2020.
