TIM surpasses 5Gbps in 5G SA trial

17 Dec 2021

Telecom Italia (TIM) says it has attained European record data transfer rates of over 5.2Gbps in a trial of 5G Standalone (SA) technology on a live network in Rome. The tests, carried out in conjunction with Ericsson and Qualcomm, used spectrum in the 3.7GHz and 26GHz millimetre wave (mmWave) ranges.

Stefano Siragusa, Deputy General Manager and Chief Network, Operations & Wholesale Officer at TIM commented: ‘This result allows us to speed up the deployment of 5G end-to-end solutions, enabling offers with high added value for our customers, from Cloud Transformation to 5G Private Networks for Smart Manufacturing, and the full digitisation of all companies and public administrations in the country.’
