Cosmote to pump EUR3bn into FTTH rollout by 2027

Greece’s OTE Group has announced a EUR3 billion (USD3.4 billion) broadband expansion programme for its domestic unit Cosmote. The group plans to roll out fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks past three million homes by 2027, up from around 560,000 currently, which is equivalent to almost two-thirds of all fixed lines in Greece. OTE Group is 48% owned by Deutsche Telekom (DT) of Germany. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said DT’s decision to boost investment in Greece was a ‘vote of confidence’ for the country.
