British pure fibre provider Gigaclear, which is focused on the rollout of fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) infrastructure in rural areas of the UK, has announced a milestone, confirming its network now passes 250,000 premises, ISPreview reports. With the company noting it had added around 80,000 premises to its network footprint during the course of 2021, it was also reported to have revealed that it now has around 50,000 fibre-based fixed broadband subscriptions on its books.
Commenting on the rollout achievement, Gigaclear CEO Gareth Williams said: ‘I am incredibly proud of what the Gigaclear team has achieved to date. We know that access to fast and reliable broadband is now more vital than ever, especially in rural locations. With over ten years of experience designing and building the full fibre network we have now scaled up and are rapidly expanding our network not just to new communities but into new counties.’
Looking ahead, Gigaclear has set out its stall to expand its FTTP network to reach a total of 500,000 premises by the end of 2023.
