Alfa, Touch employees go on open-ended strike

14 Dec 2021

On Monday employees of Lebanon’s two state-owned mobile network operators Alfa and Touch launched an ‘open-ended’ strike in an attempt to force their employers to pay dues and ensure the rights stipulated in work contracts, including healthcare insurance, Beirut Today reports. The Mobile Operators Employees Syndicate launched the strike after a series of failed negotiations with management, with Touch’s executives last week promising to ‘coordinate with the Ministry of Telecommunications to resolve the health insurance issue’. A statement from the syndicate said: ‘We will not back down from defending our right to health and social coverage.’
