Digi finalises Hungarian sale deal with 4iG; competition clearance awaited

30 Nov 2021

Romanian-listed Digi Communications has announced the signing of a deal to sell its Hungarian fixed, mobile and pay-TV operations for EUR625 million (USD705 million) to Hungarian ICT group 4iG. The sale and purchase agreement for 100% of DIGI (Hungary) and its subsidiaries Invitel, Digi Infrastruktura and i-TV was finalised on 29 November following negotiations, and is now subject to conditions including competition authority clearance. A press release says that ’DIGI and 4iG will cooperate to complete the transaction as soon as possible.’

According to the Hungarian National Media & Infocommunications Authority (Nemzeti Media- es Hirkozlesi Hatosag, NMHH), DIGI is the second operator by market share in the pay-TV, fixed broadband and fixed telephony segments. Digi and 4iG had signed a preliminary agreement for the sale back in March this year.
