Fixed broadband internet connections recorded average download speeds of 429.17Mbps during the first six months of 2021, a 42% year-on-year increase, and upload speeds of 279.83Mbps (77% faster), according to tests performed on the Netograf speed testing website developed by the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM). Average mobile internet speeds also improved, rising by approximately 30% to 30.54Mbps for downloads and 7% for uploads (10.97Mbps).
Based on approximately 95,000 valid tests performed during the first six months of 2021, the country’s leading mobile network operators (MNOs) were shown to provide the following average download speeds: Orange 48.45Mbps, Vodafone Romania 27.83Mbps, Telekom Romania Mobile Communications 18.58Mbps and RCS&RDS (DIGI) 15.19Mbps. Average fixed broadband down/upload speeds were as follows: Orange Romania 857.62Mbps/376.67Mbps, RCS&RDS 388.37Mbps/329.14Mbps, Telekom Romania Communications 308.74Mbps/213.4Mbps, Nextgen Communications 308.34Mbps/294.67Mbps, and Vodafone Romania 243.29Mbps/27.81Mbps.
