Chile’s Lipigas to launch Colombian ISP

Chilean gas distributor Lipigas has created a new company in Colombia to offer broadband access to residents of small and medium-sized cities. According to BN Americas, which cites a statement sent to the financial market commission in Chile, the new company will be known as Chilco Net. Chilco Net has initial capital of COP7.4 billion (USD1.4 million) and is a subsidiary of Chilco Distribuidora de Gas y Energia, itself a subsidiary of Empresas Lipigas in Colombia.

According to its website, ‘Lipigas is a company dedicated to delivering comprehensive energy solutions to its customers, in the three Latin American countries where it currently operates: Chile, Colombia and Peru, mainly based on liquefied petroleum gas and also, natural gas in different formats.’
