Romania-based Digi Communications has published its financial results for the three-month period ending 30 September 2021, reporting a 12.5% year-on-year increase in group revenue (excluding intersegment revenue and other income) to EUR368.4 million (USD421.5 million), driven by significant growth in customer relationships across the group. Adjusted EBITDA totalled EUR135.7 million in 3Q21, up from EUR123.1 million twelve months earlier, while total operating expenses increased 17.7% to EUR328.8 million, resulting in the group posting a net loss of EUR8.7 million compared with a net profit of EUR17.5 million in the year-ago period.
In operational terms, the group reported a 12.4% rise in total RGUs to 19.857 million at 30 September 2021. Romania continues to be the group’s core market, contributing 59% of consolidated revenues and 13.752 million RGUs in Q3 2021 (a 10.2% rise from 12.474 million RGUs twelve months earlier), followed by Spain (3.323 million, a 36.2% y-o-y increase), Hungary (2.47 million, down 1% from 2.493 million) and Italy (312,000, up 23.3%). The Romanian operation ended the quarter with 5.056 million pay TV subscriptions (an increase of 9.0% y-o-y), 3.662 million fixed internet RGUs (up 15.4%) and 999,000 fixed voice connections (6.1% lower), while its mobile subscriber base grew by 12.1% to 4.035 million.
