Vodafone New Zealand has revealed it completed the deployment or upgrade of 26 cell sites last month as part of its regional investment programme, despite needing to implement heightened COVID-19 health and safety measures. This included six new mobile sites, two additional Rural Connectivity Group (RCG) towers and upgrades to 18 existing base transceiver stations (BTS). All the new sites were deployed in the Bay of Plenty region and are intended to provide faster internet and better mobile and wireless broadband coverage in the popular tourist destination, while the upgrades mainly aim to strengthen 4G and/or 5G coverage for customers across the country.
