Rostelecom’s turnover rises 5% in third quarter

Russian fixed network heavyweight Rostelecom (including mobile subsidiary Tele2 Russia) posted a 5% year-on-year increase in consolidated revenue to RUB141.2 billion (USD2.0 billion) in the third quarter of 2021. Operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA) rose to RUB58.3 billion Q3 2021, a 9% improvement compared to 3Q20, driving the OIBDA margin up 1.5 percentage points y-o-y to 41.3%. Net profit of RUB8.4 billion in July-September 2021 compared to RUB11.8 billion reported in Q3 2020. Third-quarter ‘CAPEX excluding state programmes’ investment increased by 1% y-o-y to RUB24.6 billion (representing 17.4% of revenue).

In operational highlights, B2C fixed broadband subscriptions reached 12.353 million at 30 September 2021, up only slightly year-on-year from 12.348 million, with the B2B/G broadband base reaching 843,000 (3Q20: 815,000). Underlying these statistics, total fibre internet subscriptions grew to 10.372 million (up from 9.786 million in 3Q20). IPTV subscriptions rose from 5.909 million to 6.330 million in the same period.
