Ireland’s eir has announced that 5G access is being enabled on all of its ‘in-market’ mobile plans, at no additional cost to subscribers. In what it claimed represents ‘a first for the Irish market’, the company confirmed that all eir mobile customers will be able to use the data on their plans to access the company’s 5G network. Meanwhile, the operator also announced that customers can now take advantage of 5G roaming in 22 countries across Europe, Asia, Canada and the Middle East.
According to eir, its 5G network now provides more than 70% population coverage, in 352 towns and cities, across every county in the Republic, further complemented by a 4G network which is available to ‘more than 99% of the geography of Ireland’.
