Verizon 3Q21 revenues up 4.3% to USD32.9bn; 25% of consumer wireless subscriptions now have a 5G handset

US telecoms giant Verizon Communications has reported total operating revenues of USD32.915 billion for the three months ended 30 September 2021, up 4.3% on an annualised basis, from USD31.543 billion. Third quarter operating income was reported at USD8.905 billion, compared to USD7.678 billion in 3Q20, while net income climbed from USD4.504 billion to USD6.554 billion in the period under review.

In operational terms, Verizon’s Consumer unit closed out 30 September 2021 with 94.988 million mobile subscriptions, 6.858 million fixed broadband subscriptions and 3.094 million fixed voice subscriptions. The telco’s Business unit, meanwhile, claimed 26.998 million mobile subscriptions and 479,000 fixed broadband subscriptions.

In addition, the telco notes that ‘more than one in four Consumer wireless phone customers now have a 5G-capable device’, indicating a potential 5G subscriber base of more than 23 million.
