Telenet extends 5G cooperation with Ericsson

21 Oct 2021

Belgian full-service telecoms operator Telenet has extended its managed services partnership with Ericsson. Under the new five-year deal, the Swedish equipment vendor will be responsible for planning, design, operations and network optimisation, as well as the deployment of 5G hardware and the seamless integration of this new technology into existing mobile infrastructure. In addition, Ericsson will also take over the fixed network monitoring activities from Telenet with effect from 1 July 2022.

The companies noted in a press release that the extended partnership ‘should help Telenet to deliver 5G in a timely and most efficient manner and continue to guarantee the best mobile experiences’. The deal will allow Ericsson to deploy the latest automation, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance Telenet’s mobile and fixed network performance and offer an improved customer experience.

Telenet has partnered with Ericsson for the operational handling of its mobile activities since 2017, and in March this year selected the Swedish company as its 5G radio access network (RAN) vendor in a network modernisation deal.
