Net income down for Telia in Q3

21 Oct 2021

Telia Company of Sweden has reported a 1.2% drop in third quarter net sales to SEK21.27 billion (USD2.5 billion), though on a like-for-like basis sales would have risen 3.8%. Adjusted EBITDA was down by 4.9% on a reported basis and 1.9% like-for-like to SEK7.81 billion, while net income plummeted 36.1% to SEK1.64 billion. The firm said that there was decreased EBITDA generation in the Nordic markets, as well as for its TV and Media unit, which more than offset a positive performance in the Baltic region.

In operational terms, the group claimed 17.77 million mobile subscriptions in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia at the end of September 2021, up from 16.93 million a year earlier. Blended monthly mobile ARPU was up year-on-year in all markets except Finland. Telia also had 2.93 million fixed broadband subscriptions by Q3 2021, up from 2.90 million twelve months before. As with mobile services, for fixed broadband Finland was the only market where Telia experienced a y-o-y drop in monthly ARPU.
