20 Oct 2021

Finland’s Elisa Corporation has published its financial results for the quarter ended 30 September 2021, reporting year-on-year revenue growth of 6.2% which it said was mainly due to the acquisition of industrial software provider camLine, as well as ‘Elisa Viihde Viaplay cooperation and growth in mobile revenue’. For the three-month period under review Elisa generated a total turnover of EUR496 million (USD577 million), up from EUR468 million, with group mobile service revenue rising by 5.5% to EUR218 million. Meanwhile, Elisa reported a 3.4% y-o-y increase in EBITDA to EUR186 million, as efficiency improvements and revenue growth provided a positive impact to EBITDA. Net profit for the third quarter of 2021 totalled EUR97 million, up from EUR89 million in the corresponding period a year earlier.

With regards to operational highlights, in the mobile sector Elisa reported a total of 4.922 million subscriptions between its domestic and Estonian units as of 30 September 2020, up from 4.788 million a year earlier, with the former accounting for the lion’s share – 4.239 million, compared to 4.125 million in 3Q20. Also of note, Elisa confirmed that its Finnish 5G network now reaches over 60% of the population, with a presence in ‘nearly 130 locations’, but while it said it had seen ‘brisk demand for 5G services’, it stopped short of giving an actual figure for uptake. In the fixed broadband sector, meanwhile, Elisa reported a group-wide total of 666,000 subscriptions (Sep-21: 697,000), with its Finnish operations again representing the bulk of these – 562,000, down from 597,000.
