Verizon, Samsung, Qualcomm notch 711Mbps upload speeds via mmWave

15 Oct 2021

Verizon, Samsung Electronics and Qualcomm Technologies have achieved 5G upload speeds of 711Mbps in a lab trial using aggregated bands of millimetre wave (mmWave) spectrum. The demonstration combined 400MHz of mmWave spectrum with a 20MHz block of 4G spectrum using mmWave carrier aggregation (CA) and Single-User MIMO (SU-MIMO).

Adam Koeppe, Senior VP of Technology Planning for Verizon, commented: ‘We had over 17,000 mmWave cell sites at the end of last year and are on track to add 14,000 more in 2021, with over 30,000 sites on air by the end of this year, and we’ll keep building after that.’
