The owners of Slovak telco SWAN have confirmed that they plan to merge the fixed business with cellular subsidiary SWAN Mobile, which offers services under the name 4ka. The parent company is currently a joint venture between DanubiaTel and Sandberg Capital, but Sandberg revealed in August that it is selling its stake to its fellow shareholder. Head of 4ka and co-owner of DanubiaTel Juraj Ondris has told Zive.sk that the combination of the two units will be pushed through following Sandberg’s exit. Residential fixed and mobile services will then likely be marketed under the unified 4ka brand, while the SWAN name will be retained for business services. To improve its reach in the fixed broadband sector, the enlarged entity is expecting to lease capacity on the fibre networks of rivals such as Slovak Telekom (ST) or Orange.
