MTS shareholders approve infrastructure separation plan

The shareholders of Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) have approved a series of group reorganisation initiatives to establish new subsidiaries responsible for tower, active network and digital infrastructure. At the operator’s extraordinary general meeting (EGM) the following resolutions were adopted:

• the separation of MTS’ passive infrastructure (towers and related assets) into a wholly-owned subsidiary, Tower Infrastructure Company (TIC), with Alexander Teremetsky appointed as CEO

• the separation of a significant share of MTS’ active network and digital infrastructure (fixed line, data centre and cloud computing) into a wholly-owned entity, MWS-1

• the follow-on integration of MWS-1 into MTS’ existing wholly-owned subsidiary MTS Web Services (MWS), with Igor Egorov appointed as CEO of MWS.
