Infravia considers Greek fibre investment

French firm Infravia Capital is reportedly interested in entering Greece’s fibre-optic sector as a wholesale operator. A report from Business Daily says Infravia is considering embarking on a rollout of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks which will then be leased to third-party service providers. Local telco Cosmote announced last month that it had passed 480,000 homes with its own FTTH rollout, while the Greek government recently ran a tender to find a contractor for a EUR850 million (USD987 million) project to deploy fibre infrastructure in areas not covered under any commercial rollout plans; Cosmote and Grid Telecom/Terna Energy were the sole applicants.
