eir has announced that its 5G network is now available to more than 70% of the population of Ireland, across every county. Issuing an update on the progress of its 5G network rollout, the mobile network operator (MNO) revealed that its infrastructure is now live in a total of 336 towns and cities, via 1,110 sites. Meanwhile, the MNO noted that its 5G coverage is complemented by its 4G network, which it said is currently available to ‘more than 99% of the geography of Ireland’.
Commenting on the matter, eir CEO Carolan Lennon said: ‘We are extremely proud of the rapid progress we have achieved in building Ireland’s largest, and best available 5G network in just under two years … Bringing our network to more than 70% of the population is a significant milestone and we won’t stop there. We will continue to expand; we will continue to support people and businesses as they realise the potential of 5G technology.’
