Desktop Sigmanet swoops for LPNet

Brazilian ISP Desktop Sigmanet has acquired LPNet, a smaller broadband operator headquartered in Lencois Paulista, Sao Paulo. According to TeleTime, LPNet serves around 127,000 broadband subscribers across 40 towns and cities.

The news site quotes a Desktop company statement as saying: ‘In line with our expansion plan, the transaction reinforces the company’s presence in the interior of Sao Paulo, operating in more than 100 municipalities with a population of over nine million inhabitants and a total of over three million homes, reinforcing its leadership position in the largest market in Brazil.’
