US ISP MetroNet, which bills itself as ‘the nation’s largest independently owned, 100% fibre-optic provider’, has announced the acquisition of Southwest Michigan-based CTS, which serves Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Climax and several other Michigan communities. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but MetroNet plans to invest more than USD100 million to expand its fibre services to surrounding communities and neighbourhoods.
TeleGeography notes that MetroNet launched in 2005 with one fibre network in Greencastle, Indiana, and has since grown to serve more than 120 communities across Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, Wisconsin and Missouri.
