TIM hits 25Gbps in FTTH trials

15 Sep 2021

Telecom Italia (TIM) has achieved download speeds of up to 25Gbps on trials of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) equipment in its labs in Turin. The tests, carried out in conjunction with Nokia, used optical line terminator equipment already used in active exchanges. A mix of GPON, XGS-PON and 25GS-PON technologies were used simultaneously during the tests. The telco says rollouts of the high speed network will be aimed at industrial zones, public administration buildings and larger businesses.
