Canadian broadband network operator Xplornet has acquired Swift High Speed, a facilities-based rural ISP headquartered in Steinbach, Manitoba and operating in the south-east of the province. Swift High Speed provides fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) and fixed-wireless broadband services to over 6,000 customers with 218km of fibre and 119 wireless tower locations. Following the acquisition, Xplornet says it will invest CAD40 million (USD31.5 million) to expand high speed internet to another 14,000 homes in the region including 7,000 with FTTH.
