Reliance offer for T-Mobile Netherlands anticipated within a month

Indian financial paper Mint reports that conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) – parent of Indian mobile market leader Jio – is expected to offer USD5.7 billion for a controlling stake in T-Mobile Netherlands within a month. Germany’s Deutsche Telekom (DT) and Sweden’s Tele2 currently own 75% and 25% of T-Mobile Netherlands, respectively, but in early July DT reportedly invited initial purchase offers for the cellco, with preliminary interest shown by the likes of Apax Partners, Apollo Global Management, BC Partners, Providence Equity Partners, Warburg Pincus and RIL.
