Unifique pays BRL40m for fibre ISP Zappen

Santa Catarina-based Unifique – Brazil’s seventh largest ISP in terms of subscribers – has agreed to acquire fibre-optic provider Zappen, which operates in the city of Joinville, in Santa Catarina state. According to TeleSintese, the deal has been valued at BRL40 million (USD7.7 million), of which 50% will be paid upfront. The partners behind the sale have been identified as Cristiano Holdefer, Vilmar da Silva and Alexandre da Cunha. The deal will see around 16,000 subscribers transferred to Unifique, alongside the smaller company’s fibre infrastructure.
