FiBrasil to acquire Fiberty 1

FiBrasil Infraestrutura e Fibra Otica (FiBrasil), the infrastructure company co-owned by Telefonica and Canadian investment firm Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec (CDPQ), has reportedly agreed a takeover deal for Fiberty 1, the Blackstone-backed company previously known as Phoenix Fiber do Brasil. According to TeleSintese, Fiberty 1 curently presides over a 1,500km fibre network which passes around 170,000 homes. Networks deployments are ongoing in a further 18 cities, meanwhile, and will increase the number of homes passed by Fiberty 1 to 310,000 by 1Q22. The deal has been valued at EUR398 million (USD470 million).
