Multinational telecoms operating group VEON has been approached by Service Telecom with an offer to buy around 15,000 of its wireless towers in Russia, according to unnamed sources in the mobile infrastructure market cited by Vedomosti. A source close to Service Telecom reportedly confirmed the development, although no other details were forthcoming. VEON – parent of Russian mobile and broadband network operator VimpelCom (Beeline) – has been exploring a potential sale of tower infrastructure held by group subsidiary National Tower Company (formed in 2016), with Vedomosti reporting earlier that a deal could be valued at roughly USD900 million.
