Brazilian ISP Desktop Sigmanet has acquired Net Barretos, a small-scale broadband provider that serves the interior of Sao Paulo. According to TeleSintese, the deal was facilitated by fellow Sao Paulo operator Starnet, which Desktop agreed to buy earlier this month. The report notes that Net Barretos offers fibre-optic connectivity in the municipalities of Barretos, Bebedouro, Guaira, Pitangueiras, Colina, Jaboticabal and Jaborandi.
As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, Desktop staged a successful initial public offering (IPO) on 21 July, generating total funds of BRL715.22 million (USD137.01 million). Shares were listed via the B3 stock exchange in Sao Paulo. The ISP aims to utilise the funding to strengthen its presence across the state of Sao Paulo.
